Expenses

Why is it that as a small business owner I have to annually submit accounts to Companies House detailing the incoming/outgoing financials of my company in order to ensure I am operating my business honestly, yet members of parliament are allowed to claim expenses without even providing receipts?

I would like to see the position of "member of parliament" be officially be given the status of legal business. Each member would have to keep accounts, have them checked annually by an accountant, and then submit them to regulating commitee. This commitee would ensure that the accounts are in order and that all expense claims are accompanied by a receipt and are for items for which claiming expenses is legitimate.

With each member of parliament working within their constituency there would also be a large reduction in the amount of expenses claimed.
